Badas: Network diagram of Twitter hashtag network concerning U.S. Supreme Court

Alex Badas of Indiana University has posted a highly detailed network diagram of the Twitter network of the #SCOTUS hashtag, which is used to designate tweets about the U.S. Supreme Court.

Badas describes the diagram as follows:

colors rep. communities (group of nodes with dense connection) size represents centrality (importance to network)

Badas says that he used NodeXL to create the network, and Gephi to create the diagram.

Because a large proportion of bloggers and mainstream journalists and media organizations that cover the U.S. Supreme Court use Twitter, the diagram not only suggests the structure of the Twitter network related to the Court, but also hints at relationships among the broader community of legal journalists, bloggers — including practitioners and academics — and media organizations that cover the Court.

The Twitter hashtag is: #scotus
