New project to create public domain version of The Bluebook: New York University and Public.Resource.Org

A new joint project “to create and publish a public domain version of The Bluebook,” involving New York University’s Engelberg Center on Innovation and Policy, and Public.Resource.Org, was announced yesterday by Christopher Sprigman, co-director of the Engelberg Center, in a letter to a lawyer for the Harvard Law Review Association.

According to the letter, the project has been nicknamed Baby Blue.

The Bluebook is a legal citation standard that is widely used in the United States.

Harvard Law Review Association claims copyright in The Bluebook.

The letter describes some interesting results of Sprigman’s recent legal analysis of copyright in The Bluebook.
