The following legal-data-focused papers were presented at the 2013 Workshop on Empirical Studies of Trademark Data, held 26-27 September 2013 in Alexandria, Virginia, USA:
- Paul Duguid, University of California, Berkeley: Dated Data (abstract)
- Stefan Bechtold, ETH-Zurich: Trademarks, Triggers, and Online Search
- David Franklyn, University of San Francisco School of Law: Trademarks as Keywords
- Alexander Krasnikov, George Washington University: Impact of Influential Trademark Cases on Trademark Application Activity (Rebecca Tushnet’s summary)

The event was “co-organized by the USPTO [U.S. Patent and Trademark Office] and NYU School of Law, in co-operation with the ETH Zurich Center for Law & Economics, the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre, and the University of East Anglia.”
I think that some of the research reported at the workshop made use of U.S. P.T.O.’s Trademark Case Files Dataset, the guide for which is available here.
